Esther Igual Lafuente
Esther Igual Lafuente holds a degree in Translation and Interlinguistic Mediation (English, French and German) from the Universitat de València (2022), where she also completed the University Master's Degree in Research in Languages and Literatures (2023). She also took the Online University Master's Degree in Teacher Training in Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching (2025) at the UOC. Furthermore, she holds a professional degree in music, with a major in viola and piano, and has taught several reverse translation subjects (ES/CAT-EN) at the UJI. She is also a member of AFUE and AEDEAN. She is currently a pre-doctoral researcher in the Department of French and Italian Philology at the Universitat de València within the programme in Languages, Literatures and Cultures, and its Applications with a contract from the Atracció de Talent programme. Her doctoral thesis is under the supervision of Ignacio Ramos Gay and Claudia Alonso Recarte. Her research interests focus on the figure of the non-human animal in experimental and underground cinema in France and Great Britain. In particular, she is interested in the intersection between animal oppression and other forms of oppression, the digital representation of the non-human animal, as well as the construction of national identity in both countries in relation to these dynamics.
