María Custodia Sánchez Luque holds a degree in History from the University of Alcalá de Henares and a PhD in French Studies, with a European Doctorate mention from the Complutense University of Madrid. She is an assistant professor in French Philology at Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. She is a reviewer for Thélème, Revista Complutense de Estudios Franceses. She is a member of the MHISTRAD research group (a consolidated research group in the History of Translation and Translation Studies at URJC). She is also a member of the consolidated Teaching Innovation Group “Cooperación Intradepartamental Docente” at URJC, as well as a member of CULIVIAN.
Her research interests include ecocriticism and the presence of animals in literature. Following these lines of inquiry, she has presented papers at conferences and published works such as: “El caballo, verdadero héroe de guerra en La Débâcle de Émile Zola”; “Empatía zoliana hacia los animales ejemplificada a través del caballo”; “El invernadero del hôtel Saccard como impulsor de la intriga en La Curée de Émile Zola” and “El agua en La Curée de Émile Zola como reflejo del alma de su protagonista Renée Saccard”.
