"Animal Advocacy Documentary Film: Critical Considerations" - A Talk by Claudia Alonso-Recarte
Start: 7/10/24 4:30 PM
End: 7/10/24 5:30 PM

Details

Since the rise of the animal rights movement in the last quarter of the twentieth century, activists and advocates have been exploring the potential of documentary film as an instrument for raising awareness about speciesism and the systematized exploitation of nonhuman animals. This talk aims to present and discuss the fundamental argumentative and formal characteristics of the subgenre, as well as the tensions arising from its multimodal layers and its intersections with other forms of domination based on the cultural fabrication of ‘otherness.’
