The talk is part of the monthly Online Lecture Series framed within the CIAICO/2023/046 Research Project: "The Ethics and Aesthetics of Animal Advocacy Documentary Film in Twenty-first-century Western Cultures."

Michał Matuszewski is a PhD candidate at the University of Warsaw, where he is working on a dissertation about Polish nature films. He is a film curator, festival programmer, and film essayist. He is also the head of the Essay Film Studio at vnLab at the Film School in Łódź. For many years, he worked as a film curator at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw. He is a grantee of the Culture and Animals Foundation and is developing a visual research-based film project on the animal gaze in film. His recent essay film project, "Re-membering Topsy", was presented at the National Museum in Warsaw.
